Home and contents insurance
Your home is likely your biggest asset, and what's inside it holds a lifetime of memories. We arrange home and contents insurance for business clients and their families who want the same personal service at home that they get for their business. We compare options, explain the differences and make sure your sums insured reflect what it would really cost to rebuild and replace.
Who needs home and contents insurance?
- Homeowners wanting building and contents cover
- Business clients who want one broker for everything
- Owners of high-value homes and collections
- Households with jewellery, art or portable valuables
- Owners in bushfire, flood or cyclone-prone areas
What home and contents insurance can cover
Every policy is different. Depending on the insurer and options you choose, cover can include:
- Building damage from fire, storm, flood and other insured events
- Contents, including furniture, clothing and electronics
- Accidental damage options
- Portable valuables away from home
- Temporary accommodation if your home can't be lived in
- Personal legal liability
What to check before you buy
Underinsurance is the biggest risk with home insurance, as rebuild costs often run well above market value or what owners expect. Flood cover, bushfire exposure and limits on jewellery and high-value items also vary widely. We'll check all of these, along with sum-insured safety net options, before you commit.
Why arrange home and contents insurance through a broker?
Policies that look similar on price can differ a great deal in what they actually pay for. As your broker, we act on your behalf. We’ll ask the right questions, compare options, explain the fine print in plain language and be there to support you if you need to make a claim, wherever you are in Australia.
Home and Contents Insurance: common questions
Why use a broker for home insurance?
A broker can compare options across insurers, explain the differences in cover and help you through a claim. It's especially useful for higher-value homes or more complex needs.
Does home insurance cover flood?
Many policies now include flood, but some allow you to remove it, and definitions vary. We'll make sure you understand exactly what you're covered for.
How do I work out my building sum insured?
Use a rebuild cost calculator or professional estimate rather than market value. It should include demolition, debris removal, professional fees and current building costs.
Are my valuables covered when I take them out of the house?
Usually only if you add portable valuables cover. Items such as jewellery, cameras and laptops can be covered away from home, and high-value items often need to be listed individually. Check the limits for jewellery and other valuables in your policy.
Can I run a business from home under home insurance?
Home policies usually limit or exclude business equipment, stock and business liability. If you work from home, you may need separate business cover for your equipment and liability. We can arrange both, so nothing falls through the gaps.
How to get a home and contents insurance quote
Getting a quote is simple, and there is no obligation. Call Carly on 0497 100 469 or send an email with your business name and ABN, a short description of what you do, your approximate turnover and number of staff, a copy of your current policy schedule if you have one, and details of any claims in the last five years.
If your contracts or lease set specific insurance requirements, send those too.
We will ask a few questions about your operations, approach suitable insurers on your behalf and come back with options explained in plain language, including what is and isn’t covered. Once you choose, we arrange your cover and send your documents, then review it with you at every renewal so your insurance keeps pace with your business.
